During the 2022 election, the Mayor and council members received a $4,900 political contribution from Athens Waste. The same politicians extended Athens's 20-year contract with no other companies bidding. We now have a trash bill that is 42% higher than San Dimas. Azusa needs a city council that works for the best interests of its citizens. To prevent corruption or conflicts of interest, I would work with supporting individuals and citizens to create these ordinances:
First Ordinance - Prohibit Political Contributions by companies with Azusa City contracts. Limit contributions by companies with no city contract to $750 per election. The limit is per company, including subsidiaries' contributions (limit adjusted annually by CPI).
Second Ordinance: The City Clerk shall post on the agenda any political contributions council members receive on agenda items directly affecting the donors who contributed to their campaign committee during the last two years.
Third Ordinance: Limit all city contracts to 3 years, including extensions or amendments. Changes or deletions to this ordinance would require voter approval.
